30th - Le Pont d'Avignon et Colleen des Morgues

Set off this morning for a visit to the famous Pont d'Avignon...

but it was so busy and there was NOWHERE to park, so we ended up having Petite Dejeuner in the square at Villeneuve,

which was delicious, and made up for everything!!
Then we climbed the Colleen des Morgues (hill of the dead) which we had passed on other days but never actually been up.

The views were spectacular, and well worth the effort!

29th - Bedoin and the Dentelles de Montmirail

Set off early this morning to go up Le Mont Ventoux.
However when we got to Bedoin.......

.....we found ourselves in the middle of a race en pied (feet) that was just about to set off up the road to the top of the mountain
and the road was shut for the morning!

So we decided to stop and watch the race set off, and treated ourselves to Petite Dejuner while we waited.
Well, of course, there was nothing else to do!!

Pete thought he'd join in too, but unfortunately he was a bit too late setting off!!

so we had to be content with going up the other way and watching from a distance.
It was however a far better choice, such a beautiful road.

When we got to the top Pete decided to go for a walk up a ridiculously steep path,

I was sensible and decided to stay at the bottom and read my book.....
but actually I think I missed out as it was beautiful and lived up to its lacey name!

There were views to die for.......

He even met some Brits climbing!!

and getting stuck!

28th - Uzes Market

Very quiet day today, went to Uzes market which as usual was fantastic. Got there early and left as everyone else was arriving.

Again lots to see and buy, I never get tired of French markets, always different and very beautiful.

26th - Jeudi soir à Nîmes

Thursday nights in Nîmes during the summer are very special. They are when everyone gets together to drink wine, eat delicious food, shop at the craft stalls around Maison Carrée,and listen to live music at various venues around the town.

The Maison Carrée is a Roman building right in the centre of Nîmes, which has been reinvented several times in its history, from temple to museum to cinema, which it appears to be now. Its an amazing place.

As the daylight fades the stalls light up with all kinds of interesting crafts on display.

There are all kinds of musicians around the town, all playing till well after midnight. Time flies by!!

25th - Saint-Remy market and Villeneuve les Avignon

Early start this morning to beat all the crowds at the weekly market in Saint-Remy.

So many wonderful sights, sounds and smells.

 Pete's camera was on overtime!!

Then on to Villeneuve-Les-Avignon for a spot of lunch,
and a climb up La Tour Phillipe Le Belle.

And yes, you guessed, straight up in one still smiling!!!!!!

I was SO proud!! But I did have a sit down at the top ;)

The views from the top were amazing.....

 and well worth the climb.

I WENT RIGHT UP THERE!!!

We awarded ourselves a well deserved lunch in a cafe on the town square!
