22nd - The Venice of Provence

One of the best markets in Provence is the Sunday market in
Isle-sur-les-Sorgues, as long as you go early and know where to park. Having had lots of practice, we can now manage both!

As well as food there are lots of stalls selling bags, hats, fabric and dresses, Pete manages to let me indulge but needs to be bribed with promises of breakfast at one of the cafes along the riverside or in the town.

This is the one we chose today

The village is famous for its punts (hence 'Venice') which have been on the river since the 12th century, and often we see the Marché Flottant (floating market)  but today the fishermen were out demonstrating their skills.

We spent a very happy hour just watching them landing hundreds of fish in the time honoured ways, as well as other aspects of everyday life.

There were also many street musicians, including our favourite 'Street' whom we have seen every year that we have been to Provence.

Altogether a brilliant day.
