Having spent the majority of the day dozing, watching the Tour de France with French commentary (not easy),
reading and generally being idle, we decided to go to a favourite restaurant in Les Baux for tea. It's a hard life...
Les Baux de Provence is where aluminium ore was first discovered (hence Bauxite) and has been inhabited since 6000BC
when the Celts lived there (they sure get about, those Celts). The castle dates from the 12th Century.
It's a really atmospheric place with a big citadel built into the top of a rocky outcrop.
Lots of winding streets lead up to it, and it's really popular with tourists during the day
- the evenings are much quieter, which is when we go. The man with no neck is Pete.
Great sunset too if you wait a bit.
